Many thanks to RidleyDeckard for the banner this week!

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight and I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host this week as we look at the best offerings from the Giant Bomb community. With EVO 2018 in full swing, Ben and Jason were away to attend the event, but that didn’t stop Giant Bomb from churning out the hilarious and wonderful videos we all enjoy. Alex’s new Mass Effect video series has garnered a massive positive reaction outside of its title, which we will address in a little bit. Also, the Giant Bomb Game Jam ends this week. With that in mind, this and next week’s edition of the…

Huge New Kirby Warp Star Statue is Majestic, Wholesome

This is Niche Culture. In this column, we regularly cover anime, geek culture, and things related to video games. Please leave feedback and let us know if there’s something you want us to cover!

In today’s world, increasingly filled with humans polluting the land and identity politics ruining normal conversations, Nintendo and HAL Laboratory’s long-running character Kirby has been a light to keep my hope alive, whatever of it is left. Now, First4Figures have done it again with a huge and bold new statue – and it’s based on none other than the pink puffball himself.

Standing at roughly 12 inches tall and coming in both standard and light-up LED variants, the Warp Star Kirby…

Learning to understand the way La-Mulana 2 thinks • Eurogamer.net

I have a theory – not one that I am willing to submit to much in the way of peer review – that games are often about learning new ways to think. No, not new ways – not quite. It’s more that, in the moment-to-moment action of a game, in the individualised swirl of ways it likes to stage things or explain itself, you often get to see another mind in flight: you learn to think in the way that someone else has already been thinking.

This may be why the really big budget games often lose a little of their spark. With no singular mind behind them – not even a handful of singular minds – games sometimes rely on working out the way that you already think instead: they become students of…

EGX Rezzed is coming back for another year, and the dates have been announced.

EGX Rezzed, the indie-focused version of EGX, will once again be held at London’s Tobacco Dock. EGX Rezzed 2019 takes place April 4-6, with over 200 playable games across PC and consoles.

Virgin Media returns as a sponsor in the show’s eighth year. One of Rezzed’s biggest attractions is that it allows fans unprecedented access to developers of their favourite games.

It’s a more intimate setup than EGX or any of the other bigger shows. This is also reflected in panels, of which there will be…

Cyberpunk 2077: games to get you in the mood

The trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 at this year’s E3 delivered thrills at such a high bit-rate you may not be able to contain yourself. The game’s magnetism lies in its buzzing metropolis of Night City. Developer CD Projekt Red has said the  streets of its upcoming RPG are filled with ‘cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers.’ And while it sounds as if the Polish studio has drawn inspiration from a visit to Shoreditch, it’s alluring all the same. Here are a few recommendations to tide you over until the game finally drops – hopefully, a little nearer to now than its title suggests.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey- Choice System Will Have Long-Term Consequences In The Story

Ubisoft are making efforts to make your choices in the game actually matter.

assassins creed odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey promises to be the biggest shake up to the Assassin’s Creed formula yet, bigger even than last year’s Origins. That is mostly down to the fact that the game’s going to be a full-fledged RPG, complete with dialogue choices, romance options, and player choice. And if Ubisoft are to be believed, the choices players make in the story will have actual consequences, and truly impact the way it progresses.

“You can have long-term choices where you know you are making a…

Battlefield 5 Grand Operations mode will take some extra time after launch to arrive

Battlefield 5 has big ambitions to change up the 16-year-old shooter series, and its new Grand Operations mode might be the most daring of all. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to play it right when the game arrives. Electronic Arts and DICE revealed that Grand Operations will go live “shortly after launch” in a post on Battlefield 5’s official website. The mode has been featured prominently in BF5’s pre-release announcements and trailers, so this is kind of a bummer all around (even if it’s better to get something late than all buggy and awful).

If you’re not familiar with the concept, Battlefield 5’s Grand Operations are a sort of uber-multiplayer that meld together new and classic…

Endless Legend: Inferno will let you terraform the world into an ashy volcanic paradise

endless legend inferno

Endless expansions are on the way in just under a week, with Endless Legend: Inferno and Endless Space 2: Supremacy set to expand the respective 4X titles with new factions and new ways to play. You’ll be conquering the stars through battle, or simply try to create a paradise for your people – though the latter comes with the promise of fire and ash. Both bits of DLC launch on August 2.

Inferno introduces the Kapaku to Endless Legend. The new faction is built from inventors who use golems to help them overcome their tiny stature, and they’ve landed on Auriga with the intent of turning it into a terraformed paradise. Of course, the Kapaku are…
